Sylvia & Dan

We ran into Sylvia Sierra and Dan Simonson on the Sol LeWitt staircase at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum last week. The couple (she from Syracuse, he from Arlington, Virginia) had returned to Buffalo after a quick side-trip to Toronto. The first phase of their Buffalo vacay included a walk around Delaware Park, tours of the Japanese Garden and Rose Garden, as well as stops at some of Buffalo’s greatest buildings, including City Hall and Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House.

“The architecture in Buffalo is phenomenal,” said Dan. “The architecture here does stand out,” Sylvia added, “the Darwin Martin House is brilliant.”

Arriving back in Buffalo, the couple had breakfast at BreadHive Bakery & Cafe earlier that day.

“We wanted to visit it because it’s a cooperatively-owned business,” said Dan. “We will go back,” added Sylvia.

The travelers had saved the Buffalo AKG for their last stop in Buffalo, eagerly looking forward to the “Dark Rooms, Solid Light” exhibit by Anthony McCall.

As the couple made their way up the stairs to the exhibit, Sylvia added, “I do like Syracuse, but Buffalo has more cool buildings and there’s more to see, more to do.”
